Lunch Lady Brownies!

Lunch Lady Brownies!

Ingredients:

1 c. of butter (unsalted)

1/2 c. cocoa

2 c. flour

2 c. sugar

4 eggs

4 tsp vanilla

1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:

Melt Butter & Add Cocoa

Add Flour & Sugar. Beat together & then add eggs, vanilla, and nuts.

Mix until combined -- DO NOT OVER STIR**

Pour into greased, **floured 9x13 banking pan

Use a large baking sheet if you're planning to DOUBLE recipe**

Bake 20-25 minutes @ 350 F or until done.

CHECK @ 20 MIN!

Wait only 10** min to frost brownies

Frost while WARM not HOT!!

Chocolate Frosting Recipe

**Make while brownies bake

1/4 c. softened butter

1/4 c. canned milk (regular milk is okay)

1/4 cup cocoa

3 c. powdered sugar

Dash of Salt

Mix all together & frost as desired! 

Ta Dah!

Out With the Old... In With the... Old?

Who wouldn't want tips on how to paint furniture?? It’s a quick, inexpensive way to give old pieces a dramatic new look, which can transform an entire room!!

Designer Tyler Wisler says, “Painting is always the easiest and quickest way to give any outdated piece of furniture an instant makeover, but the key to all of it, regardless of the color choice, is to prep. Prep, prep, prep those pieces correctly! Just grabbing a can of paint and having at it will inevitably end in cracked and peeling paint in no time. A good once over with a fine grit sandpaper, then a thorough wipe down with a damp cloth to get rid of any dust particles, is the simplest way to get the paint to stick to the piece and will last so much longer!”

{DIY} Lavender Linen Spray

Studies have shown that the aroma of lavender is a prime resource for relaxation and stress relief. Even the Romans had a thing for using lavender to scent clothing. (There’s a fascinating history of lavender here.) After a stressful day at the office a few drops of lavender in a tub or shower can be the ultimate stress relief! Having trouble sleeping? A few spritz of lavender linen spray will give you the ultimate sense of relaxation for a great nights sleep!  Fancy linen spray can be pricey, but if you’re looking for a way to fall asleep at night or just infuse your linen closet with a bit of spring, this super simple project is for you! 

By simply mixing lavender essential oil with water and witch hazel, you have created the perfect linen spray! And while I’ve recommended distilled water below, you’d be okay to use regular water. (The distilled water, theoretically, will keep your mixture from looking cloudy and keep the sprayer from getting clogged.)

Materials

• 8–10 drops lavender essential oil
• 2 tsp witch hazel
• 1 cup distilled water (not pictured)
• small spray bottle

Directions

Simply mix everything together. Pour into a small spray bottle. Spritz away!

Label Materials

• chalkboard contact paper
• X-Acto knife
• ruler
• white gel pen

To make labels that look like ours, simply cut a rectangle out of the contact paper and then cut the corners off.

Give Me Texture!

Have you ever been interested in adding some texture to your drab walls? Doing this is super easy and super appealing!

One of the easiest techniques is by applying a thin coat of drywall. You can then create different designs and shapes using a notched trowel. This is also fairly inexpensive!

If you don't have a notched trowel or you're looking for an even more inexpensive option. You could always use a sponge instead!

You could even use a paint roller with thinned-out drywall to create a fun an interesting look. You can keep it simple with a regular paint roller or be bold with a textured one!

Trying to choose a color for your remodel?

We always recommend to go with a neutral for the wall and big items, such as furniture.  Once you've established a color theme, feel free to play with your accent color.  It's always fun to be bold when choosing accents.  There is no need to be scared! Accent's are easy to be traded out and usually inexpensive.  We always like to follow the interior designers rule of thumb, 60 30 10! 60% is your main color, 30 % is contrast, and 10% accent.  

A good example of this would be, accent pillows and wall hangings in a living room. Towels and vanity decor in a bath, and table centerpieces and window valences in a kitchen. Don't be afraid to choose a bold accenting color such a purple that looks good with any color scheme and usually isn't too trendy!
